One Year Older

Celebrating the first anniversary of our blog!

OUR ADDICTION TO RAMBLING

One year ago, Peter had the idea of starting a blog to chronicle our thoughts, activities, and adventures together. We intended it to be a diary of sorts that would serve a dual purpose of both keeping the people around us up to date with our lives, as well as a journal for us to look back on. The months feel like they’ve flown by, and we find our selves re-reading the entires from time to time. We’ve been able to reminisce fondly on events and details that have since slipped the forefront of our brains.

Though it was intended to be a casual and fun side project, Peter and I find ourselves looking forward to chronicling every week. From the entries we’ve published, several rise to the top as most memorable. For Peter, any article thematically centered on growth, whether in relationships or finances, tend to be his favorite. My favorites tend to be the ones that explore relational depth and nuance, both concrete and abstract.

More specifically, Peter really enjoyed reading Die With Zero as well as learning to plan a year full of travel centered on the theme of coziness. For him, these discussions married all of his favorite concepts. They captured all that is important to him through a logic that was familiar to him. Who knew translating financial savvy into relational success would be such a complicated and systematic process?

On the other hand, my favorite memories and writings were about our first trip to Japan together. Those articles highlighted so much of what this blog is about: the ability to revisit memories and joy of those experiences. For me, that was a particularly special time in my relationship with Peter. It was also, however, a very special occasion with some of my dearest friends. Those two weeks in Japan were the pinnacle of 2025 for me.

It’s been very fun to have friends and family follow along weekly as well. We’ve come to love when you all have questions and comments for us as it provides yet another point of connection amidst everybody’s busy lives. When we first started the blog, we presumed you all subscribed as an act of charity. As we soon learned, we have the most loyal and loving audience as evidenced by the open rate. It’s been a blessing to have such wonderful people share this journey with us thus far.

As Peter and I sit at our kitchen table brainstorming for this very article, we look fondly upon the collection of articles from this past year. On our humble blog, there are now multiple pages of Peter’s cute thumbnails all linking to the prolixity of my unhinged mind.

Looking through the blog brings up so many memories and feelings in of itself. In usual Peter fashion, he reflects on how great it’s been to share a project together. We’ve learned to work side by side on weekly creations and deadlines. Some weeks were undoubtedly stressful with rushed articles haphazardly thrown together.

Through it all, we now have a year’s worth of work to cherish. We have no plans on changing anything about this creative process that has flourished in building and sustaining connection. We look forward to continuing this journey, and we hope you’ll choose to come along!

XOXO,

Howard and Peter
